XP HF2 vs HF: check the detector before you buy

They are not the same coil. The HF2 (DELLFMFHP) is a high-power elliptical coil listed for the DEUS II; the older HF (DELLHF) is a high-frequency elliptical coil for the DEUS and ORX. Buy by which detector you own, not by the similar names.

HF2 and HF are different coils

The names look almost identical, but these are two different parts from two coil generations. The HF2 is the newer high-power coil built for the DEUS II; the original HF coil was made for the DEUS and ORX. Matching the coil to your detector matters more than the name on the listing.

If you own a DEUS II

The HF2 is the high-frequency option listed for the DEUS II, aimed at small, low-conductive targets and mineralized or salt ground. For general coin, relic and beach hunting the standard DEUS II FMF coils remain the simpler choice; add the HF2 when you specifically want the high-frequency performance.

If you own a DEUS or ORX

The original HF elliptical coil (DELLHF) is listed for the DEUS and ORX, not the DEUS II. XP describes it as part of its high-frequency coil family and a good match for gold prospecting with an ORX. If your detector is a DEUS or ORX, this is the high-frequency coil to look at - not the HF2.

Claimed advantages, not our test

XP markets the HF2 as roughly three times more powerful than the previous high-frequency coil, with a high-capacity battery and strong EMI resistance. Treat those as manufacturer claims and owner impressions - we do not run our own field tests, so we report what the specification and real users say rather than measured depth figures.

Charging is its own system

The HF2 uses an external high-power battery with a new charge system and a control LED, plus a charging clip for swapping spare batteries in the field. Do not assume the standard FMF charging cable covers it - follow the current official instructions for the HF2 battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the HF2 coil fit my DEUS or ORX?

The HF2 (DELLFMFHP) is listed for the DEUS II. The DEUS and ORX use the earlier HF coil (DELLHF). Check your detector model against the listing before buying.

Why do similar Amazon titles lead to different coils?

Because HF and HF2 share almost the same name but are different parts for different detectors. Always confirm the model code and the listed detector, and cross-check the standard FMF coil options if you are not sure which you need.

Does the HF2 need a firmware update?

XP ties high-frequency features to detector firmware, so check the current official DEUS II requirements before you buy. We do not publish a specific version here unless the manufacturer documents it.
